Moreno starts Senate brawl after surveilling colleagues’ cars

Everything seems to be going swimmingly in Washington, DC, these days. While the government is supposedly shut down, the Senate has been meeting, and it turns out Bernie Moreno took some action up on Capitol Hill that nearly brought senators to blows.

Seriously.

The former car dealer apparently has been surveilling his colleagues’ cars. Specifically, he’s been checking out their VIN numbers.

Here’s what Moreno said:

“Would it surprise you that I got the VIN numbers of every one of my Democrat colleagues vehicles and found that none of them bought any of the additional safety technologies on their cars?….. So when you are actually shopping for a car with your own money, you don’t buy the technology, but we’re sitting here saying that this should be mandated for everybody else’s cars and what’s been the result we drove up the price of cars almost doubled in the last 10 years”

Apparently, yes, Bernie, it would indeed surprise many people. Including your colleagues.

The surveillance seems to be sparking incredulity and questions online.

Moreno however is a former car dealer. So actually, this seems like exactly the kind of thing he’d do.
