Fun fact: Vance still doing his job as senator

So, there was a little griping among some Ohioans when JD Vance was selected as Donald Trump’s running mate that we now would be down to functionally one senator– and it would be the hyper-liberal one, at that– because as soon as Vance was selected, he would be off on the campaign trail the whole time.

If that’s happening, it doesn’t seem to have affected his presence for key Senate votes much. Check out this chart from Axios:

Mostly, this chart has us asking:

  • What’s up with John Barrasso? Does he miss Senate votes so much just because Wyoming is a massive pain to get to and from because only about three people live there, so airlines don’t run a lot of flights to the state?
  • What’s Joe Manchin’s excuse? Doesn’t he live on a houseboat in DC? Even if he didn’t, it’s not exactly hard to get from West Virginia to DC.
  • We could say almost the same about Tom Willis and Bill Hagerty. North Carolina and Tennessee aren’t too far from DC and people actually live there. What’s your deal?
