Bernie Moreno is starting his time as a Senator-elect off strong: Sticking up for a fellow Senator-elect’s shunned pet and fighting Chuck Schumer’s ridiculous, stodgy, anti-doggy Senate rules.
On Tuesday, a minor scandal erupted in Washington, DC, at orientation for incoming Senators. Senator-elect Jim Justice was “told he could not bring his bulldog ‘Babydog’ onto the Senate floor on Tuesday during orientation,” according to Axios.
Axios further reports that Moreno “first raised the question in jest about Babydog being on the Senate floor, sources said.”
That’s when the formal shunning of Babydog by Schumer’s henchmen occurred.
Justice seems to be taking it in his stride, but we are not– and we applaud Moreno for sticking up for Babydog’s rights to take a walk, take a nap, or a take a seat wherever and whenever she damned well pleases right there on the floor of America’s top deliberative body.
Here are a few Babydog photos before you storm the Capitol to demand justice for the incredibly cute pup, whose favorability ratings undoubtedly will exceed that of all 100 senators pretty much instantly (photos via @BabydogJustice, who you should absolutely follow).
